Thank you guys for the better mood wishes yesterday, I'm in a considerably sunnier mood than I was. This weather has just been so crappy! Although the later part of the week looks like it might perk up, here's hoping.
Last Wednesday Chris and I had something special planned: back in March I bought us tickets to see Steve Martin (yes, that Steve Martin) and the Canyon River Band play at Merrill Auditorium in Portland Maine. I got the tickets as a late anniversary present to ourselves, and it was SO worth it. We decided last minute to get a hotel, and ended up staying at the Eastland Park Hotel right downtown. You know back in March I had these grand delusions that we'd have sunny late spring weather by May 18th, we could stroll around downtown and leisurely make our way to the show. Boy, was I wrong! It was cold and misty and more like March than anything else! I'm really happy that we stayed where we did though, the hotel had a shuttle right to Merrill. The show was the best I've been to, a great venue and the right amount of comedy vs. fantastic music.
I've had this dress for a few weeks now, but knew I wanted to save it for something special. It was the perfect thing for our night out. I paired it with a favorite pair of shoes, a light linen cardigan, and some vintage necklaces I picked up last weekend in Brimfield. Even though the weather was the farthest thing from spring, I still felt like I was dressed for the season and the occasion.

Anon: the dress is from Dear Creatures and sold through ModCloth, I got it because I love it regardless of whether or not the print has been used elsewhere. H&M is also guilty of ripping off designers, case in point: the entire "Conscious Collection" is Chloe a year and a half ago. Also I wouldn't wear this print as a shirt, but it's damn fine as a dress.

Jesoria, yes we all choose to spend differently, and you can find this dress listed elsewhere for the same price. I chose to use the gift card I had earned through MC on this dress specifically for this special occasion (our seven year anniversary and our last before getting married), it's of great quality and I value that over quantity. I could have chosen three or four lesser quality dresses that I would've worn once or twice, but I chose something that I'll wear for years to come instead.
