What I wore:
Jacket: ModCloth (find it here)
Top: J.Crew ($3 sale)
Skirt: Thrifted ($12 similar)
Tights: American Apparel Super Opaque ($25)
Boots: ModCloth (sale, similar)
Necklace: Crimson & Clover/ Crompton Collective (gift from Punky)
Belt: Vintage/ Avalon ($12)
Hat: Brixton (Chris's)
Where I wore it: To work
I wish I could say I wore this somewhere new and interesting, but nope, just to work. Regardless of where I wore it, this might just be one of my all-time-favorite outfits. The kind of outfit I put on and feel like myself, something that's not necessarily true for everything I wear. My closet has changed quite a bit from when I first started writing Orchid Grey, though many of those pieces still live in my wardrobe, my focus has shifted and with it, my personal style. An outfit that I loved a year ago, I wouldn't necessarily wear now. I'm not sure where I'm going with this, suffice to say that one of my biggest goals for 2013 is to really streamline my closet, to pay attention to what I'm drawn to and translate it for myself. Ugh, Expressing yourself, sometimes it's difficult.
Also, this hat will be firmly planted on my head until A) I figure out what to do with my mop and/or B) Summer.
Also, thank you to Megan for telling me to get this jacket. Because I do not regret it. After wishing and hoping for a used leather jacket to appear in a thrift store for years, I gave up and bought this. And I feel like a superhero.

ps- I can't recommend these boots enough, if you can find them somewhere: confusingly, confoundedly comfortable.

AWESOME outfit.
(I am doing the same thing with waiting for a second-hand leather jacket to come my way... sigh.)
yesssss!!!!!! totally dig this. that jacket is badass :)
completely agree. Pretty much anything I wore a year ago, I wouldn't wear the way I wore it.
such a rad jacket!!
You are simply stunning. This style combines the 15 year old me and the 24 year old me. I adore this. I love it so much I just had to pin it. I adore your blog.

Ahhh, I agree that this outfit is so so good. My favorite of yours in a while! A perfect edgy mix with a pop of color that shows off your killer gams! LOVE.
OBSESSED. the hard femme look suits you big time! seriously, this is PERFECT!!!
You look fabulous in that outfit. Also, how do you look so good in a beanie?! Not fair.
I'm totally stalking that jacket now myself.
we your done with that jacket you can swap it with me. DIBS!
I love C&C's stuff...my mom bought a piece for her window.
I agree with you on many levels--the first of which being that this is your best outfit EVER. also, isn't it funny when blogging outfits you can see how your style has evolved!?! In the end, hopefully, we remain our own individual people in the end though.
You look SO good Julie! You carry off things like this with such ease, I am in awe of your coolness

I LOVE this look!
Sometimes wearing awesome outfits for "not so speacial" occasions are the best. I suppose it really would be your truest form of self expression since there was no incentive to put effort into a speacial event....
Also, I'm pretty sure your hair makes everything look wonderful. It's so pretty!
Favorite from you! Everything just works so well together and I can tell how much you are diggin it!

I LOVE it. I wish I could pull off a more punky look. But I wear glasses everyday and I feel like they look too derpy with a more edgy outfit. Hmm, to resolve this problem.

Girl, I've wanted that jacket for about a year. It's seriously so incredible, and now I want it even more after seeing you in it! (what size did you get, btw?)
I'm feeling the same way about style. I too feel like I wouldn't really be into wearing outfits that I loved a year ago. I think my high school style tendencies might be reasserting themselves a bit... or maybe I'm moving forward instead of reverting. I don't know! Haha, either way, I'm totally in love with this outfit.
Outfits that make you feel like that are the best, nothing beats that spring in your step.
Looks so cute! I lucked out and found my perfect leather jacket at a thrift store last Spring after keeping my eye open for YEARS. I love the embellishment on yours and I am in love with your boots. :D
Just be careful with streamlining... for the pieces you adored when you bought them and/or spent a lot of money in, it's good to put them in storage for as long you can afford to in terms of space and money. You'll find yourself digging back into that pile for one of two pieces that you do like after all, or that you can adapt. Regret over cast-off clothes isn't the worst thing, but it's thrifty if you can re-like something, too!
The fashion cycle is basically 10 years, though, so it does get impossible to hang on to things for 10 years in case they come back in style. I did have a pair of beautiful Italian oxfords that I bought in the mid-90s and that went on to look hopelessly stodgy in the mid-2000s, and then became all the rage with the minidresses late in the decade. I've never gotten more compliments on a pair of shoes. And I almost chucked them when they were "passé". I finally had to throw them out when I wore them to the point that the entire sole and heel peeled off one day after one Canadian winter too many! Anyway, I'm glad the cost of those made me keep them past the point when I thought I didn't like them anymore.
I'm currently daydreaming about what a superhero I'll feel like if I can get my mitts on this bright yellow leather jacket.

Your hair is amazing, definitely not a mop! I love the colors here and great score on the leather jacket. I just scored a TopShop one on Ebay after being disappointed about not finding one at a thrift store too <3

That's exactly what I want to do too, streamline my wardrobe this year. Sometimes I'm wearing an outfit that doesn't make me feel great, and I want to change that so that I always (or almost always) love what I'm wearing. I need to pay attention to the styles I really like and move in that direction with my wardrobe. I think it will be a fun little challenge for myself and hope I'll like where I end up!
tienes un pelo increíble,y los looks son geniales!
Me encanta y Te espero en http://enendele.blogspot.com.es/ y espero que te guste y me sigas :)
